Amon's Journal by Robert Huse No. 0 This is my first involvement in a human activity. I am told humans keep journals of their thoughts in order to reflect on their past. As if their puny minds could create any thought that was worth any merit. Although I doubt any human could ever possibly comprehend the thoughts of a Sinistral, I shall nonetheless indulge their morbid curiosity. Perhaps the unfortunate soul who happens to read this will realize how inferior he really is, and will tell of the world how foolish it is to challenge us. Then, this mundane scribbling will have more than worthwhile. We might even spare their futile existance - or not. No. 1 Supreme Lord Arek summoned us to his secret fortress today, where he imparted most disturbing tidings. Apparently, the legendary Dual Blade has begun to ring, signaling our doom. Needless to say, Sir Daos was very displeased at the news. He stormed out of the fortress, with Gades and myself in hot pursuit. Woe to he who has caused Dual Blade to ring, for he has incurred the wrath of Lord Daos, Master of Terror and leader of the four Sinistrals. Fearful times shall soon come to pass. No. 2 Master Daos has decreed that all human warriors must be found and executed. To this end, I have dispatched my servant Camu to the mortal plane. He has set up a base near the village of Tanbel. I expect great news from Camu forthcoming, particularly the elimination of all warriors in that area. Once neutralized, we shall proceed to otherparts of the world and continue the process. Once all of the world's strongest warriors have been eliminated, nothing will be able to stop Sir Daos from claiming the Dual Blade and ruling the world! I look forward to that time. No. 3 Although not present at the meeting at Arek's fortress, Erim has nonetheless worked to further Sir Daos' glorious plan. Taking on the guise of a human traveler named Iris, she has begun monitoring the movements of a certain warrior named Maxim. Though I have not met him personally, Erim tells us his energy pattern is unlike any she'd ever seen before. This could present a minor crimp in Daos' plan, but it shall be removed quickly. Camu has promised to deliver his head to us before the week is out. A fitting trophy, indeed. No. 4 Hmph! Camu proved to be completely useless against Maxim and another warrior, a Tanbel swordsman named Guy. I don't know what I ever saw in him. Anyway, before his death, Camu trapped them in the tower and willed it to fall on them. Yet, the tower held firm and Maxim escaped certain death. Hmm, I wonder what happened in there. No. 5 Gades was rather perturbed at the defeat of Camu, and has decided to take matters into his own hands. That hotheaded lummox is set to descend on the village of Gordovan and proceed from there. Personally, I'd start with Parcelyte - as I've sensed strong energy in that vicinity. I just hope Gades doesn't blow it. Cleaning up after his messes is one of my least favorite activities. Sigh. No. 6 There appears to be another powerful sowrdsman in Bound Kingdom. I'm sending my servant Idura to eradicate him and destroy the kingdom, just to be on the safe side. As for Maxim, Gades claims he's no threat, having soundly defeated him at Gordovan West Tower. However, Maxim appears to be a fast healer; either that, or a very slow learner. I can't help but wonder why Erim hasn't disposed of him yet - she's had plenty of opportunities. I'll have to ask her that next time she returns. No. 7 Idura failed to destroy the swordsman, Bound Kingdom, and Maxim as well. On all counts, it was a complete failure. I shall forgive him - this time. On a more tragic note, Gades is planning something big for that region. I hope it doesn't fall through like everything else has recently. Lord Daos specifically told me not to concern myself about Gades, for he can handle things. I just hope he's right. No. 8 I can't believe it! Maxim, Guy, and that Bound Kingdom swordsman Dekar have destroyed Gades! Although I didn't expect much from the lummox, I NEVER expected him to get killed! If those pitiful humans got it into their minute minds that we were vulnerable, it would put MasterDaos' glorious plan in jeapordy. Anyway, Erim returned and told us not to make a move against Maxim, yet. As long as he believed Gades was the only threat, he would not trouble us further, so she said. Master Daos has agreed to leave Maxim alone, for now. Erim's energy was flowing in a most peculiar manner when she arrived. It's like she was troubled by more than just Gades' inconvenient demise. Although I know I shouldn't concern myself with such a seemingly trivial detail, it appears like something is somewhat amiss with Erim. But what? No. 9 Just as Erim said, Maxim has ceased his battle after Gades' downfall. Over a year has passed since then. He's settled down in Parcelyte with that naive woman Selan, who I'm told is with child at the moment. Hmph! The mortal need to procreate is so insignificant. It has no place in Master Daos' grand scheme. Once we've formulated a plan to resurrect Gades, Maxim and his accursed offspring shall be wiped clean from existence. Then the world will cower before the limitless might of the Four Sinistrals. No. 10 Two years have passed since Gades' death, but now everything is in place to bring him back to life, as much as it disgusts me. But first, it is essential to eliminate Maxim and his bloodline - permanently. I'm sending Idura to carry out that part of the plan. Once Maxim and his accursed spawn have been executed in a visually appealing manner, nothing will stand in Lord Daos' way of complete world domination. Soon, Dual Blade will belong to us, as it was meant to be. No. 11 Blast! Idura failed me again! Worse, he's blaming Iris for that debacle. Bold, I'll give him that - accusing a Sinistral of treason. It's very disturbing, but I'm sure Iris has a good explanation, or at least she'd better have. Perhaps I misjudged Maxim's power. I might have to make a more direct contribution to the work of Master Daos. No. 12 Ever since his failure to reave Maxim's offspring of life, Idura has been working incredibly hard to regain my trust. He's sunk all the ships and Aleyn, and done the same in Narcysus. That should slow Maxim down until we're ready to proceed with the next part of Daos' plan: the revival of Gades. Excuse me while I contain my excitement. The young single girls of Narcysus have very strong life-force. It could be just what we need to bring the curmudgeon back to life. I can hardly wait. Idura, however, has expressed some concerns about Iris. He wonders if she's even on our side. What a ridiculous notion. I'm sure Sir Daos would agree. No. 13 Hrmph! Another brilliant plan bungled completely by Idura. Between him and Gades, I can't tell who's more incompetent. My patience with him has been exhausted. Once Iris brings him to the Karloon Shrine, I'm terminating our little pact. I don't care WHAT he does afterwards, as long as he stays out of our way. It appears the time for more direct involvement has come much sooner than I expected. No. 14 Maxim appears to be having a hard time progressing past Treadool, an obstacle we Sinistrals could pass over with ease. Well, now that's he's been delayed again, it's time for me to get personally involved in Lord Daos' masterfully structured plan. I intend to land atop the tower northeast of the kingdom of Ferim - a long way from where the pathetic Maxim is stuck. A pity - I was looking forward to getting a first hand feel of Maxim's power, but I guess it's not to be. No. 15 Hmm, it appears I may have slightly underestimated Maxim. Iris stopped by the tower today and told me Maxim was on his way. Well, that's fine by me. Very soon, Maxim, we shall meet face to face. Well, face to kneecaps anyway. I look forward to meeting the man who managed to slay Gades. Should he prove to be too annoying, it'll be his last meeting. Bet on it. No. 16 Maxim was even more disappointing than I originally believed. What's even more amusing was that his comrade Guy actually attempted to attack me. Still, the fact that they were able to move in my energy waves is a tad disturbing. I think I'll lay waste to the northern village of Agurio. That should teach Maxim to stay out of my way. And if he doesn't, he'll wind up just like those flies I crushed in the village. Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm. No. 17 I have sensed strong and unusual energy from the shrine southwest of the elven village of Eseritko. I also sensed an elf woman with powerful energy waves that repel most monsters. However, her pitiful powers won't keep me away. I'm sure she can lead me to the source of the energy in the shrine. Once I've claimed it for myself, I'll be able to bring Gades back to life myself. Master Daos will be SO pleased. No. 18 I don't believe it! I had no idea that woman could summon so much power! That HURT! Blast you, Maxim! If it weren't for you, the energy of the shrine would've been mine! Oh, how can I explain this failure to Lord Daos? We are so close to reaching our goal, and now this happens. I know, I'll rile things up at the shrine south of Barnan. That'll keep Maxim out of our hair while we complete the final phases of the Master's plan. You will regret this insolence, Maxim. Mark my word. No. 19 Master Daos was VERY displeased at my failure. Fortunately, he withheld his wrath until our island has reached full power. In the meantime, Erim has taken up the task of delaying Maxim. She's discarded her Iris persona and awakened the Fire Dragon that lives southwest of Chaed. Even if Maxim does manage to kill it, Master Daos has another plan for Chaed, and Maxim. He has departed to the underwater cave outside the Dual Blade's resting place to make things... unpleasant for Maxim. Oh, I feel better already. No. 20 At last! Lord Daos has claimed the Dual Blade and risen our island to the skies above! The end draws near for Maxim and this world. Soon we shall establish ourselves as Absolute Rulers of all we survey. Now all we need is the divine armaments and we will be invincible! Oh, life is good. No. 21 Today, Erim rejoined us on the island. When she did, something quite remarkable happened - Gades came back to life! Apparently, Erim enables us to revive if we are somehow defeated. Oh, this is better than I ever imagined. As much as I detest having Gades around, it's quite clear that we were always meant to rule this vast world. Strangely, Erim doesn't seem to share our enthusiasm. I wonder why. No. 22 Crud! The divine armaments have been sealed away! Not even Daos can break the seal. This is most disturbing. Fortunately, Naster Daos has a contingency plan. He will allow Maxim to break the seals, then take the armaments from his dead carcass. Gades has departed to the Shuamn Island Tower, where he'll have his chance to redeem himself. I shall wait atop the Strahda Island Tower. Soon we shall deliver the armaments to Daos and he shall become the most powerful ruler in all the land. Mark my word. No. 23 Blast it! Maxim has managed to defeat me! If it weren't for Erim, I surely would've met my doom! Oh, this is VERY aggravating! Those annoying creatures have exhausted my patience. But, Daos isn't worried. He'll wait for Maxim to collect the last armament from the Kamirno Island Tower, then relieve the simpleton of them. Sigh. I'm sure Daos will be successful. He always has been, and always will be. No. 24 I don't believe it! Not only did Daos fail to obtain the armaments, he lost the Dual Blade as well. He was muttering about how the Dual Blade rejected him and chose Maxim. Oh, this is intolerable! Well, now that I'm at full strength again, it's time for decisive action. First, I'll demolish their ship, then send a horde of monsters to attack them where they take it. By the time they manage to reach the island, if they reach the island, they'll be so weak they will soon fall before us. I shall sacrifice them as an offering to Lord Daos! Then he'll be able to get the Dual Blade back AND the divine armaments as well. I look forward to that time. No. 25 NO! It can't be! That spiked-haired simpleton Dekar returned to wipe out my monsters singlehandedly! These creatures have annoyed me for the last time! I'm going to use the island's energy to blow them out of the sky! Even if they do reach us, they will fall before our limitless power! Maxim, today you will wish you were never born. Bet on it.
